Comcast’s Gigabit Internet

It looks like Google won’t be the only one that will be providing a gigabit internet service, as Comcast has installed the first customer for commercial gb service in Pennsylvania as a test.

While Comcast currently offers a 2gb service (in upwards of $300/mo), this service could bring a significant comsumer base loyalty to them if the price matches Google Fiber’s $70/mo, and by the looks of it, they plan to offer this to their current customers across the US, with plans to expand their network to reach new areas and customers as well.

Comcast also stated a new modem might be necessary, but the major change would be software upgrades in the nodes that service communities as opposed to home installs for new hardware like those Google needs.

Would you consider this service?
